2007 Drawing Prize Winners

Ten Nebraska schools that participated in the N-Lighten Kids program were chosen to receive $500 toward health or physical education programs.

The winners are: Ashland-Greenwood Elementary Schools, Sargent Public Schools, St. Peter & Paul School in Omaha, Creighton Public Schools, Gibbon Public Schools, Plattsmouth Community Middle School, Raymond Watson Elementary School in Hastings, Hartley Elementary School in Lincoln, Campbell Elementary in Lincoln, and Christ Lutheran School in Juniata.

Megan Appelt of Ainsworth was chosen as the winner of the bicycle, grand prize in the individual drawing.

The monetary awards, sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of Nebraska, will be presented at the winning institutions over the next two weeks.

Five of the winners were chosen from a random drawing of schools that met minimum requirements as part of the N-Lighten Kids three-month program. The other five were drawn from among schools that verified school-wide participation in N-Lighten Kids Day events, the week of April 23.

A total of 25,144 kids participated in the program with 14,959 kids on 683 teams completing the three-month program and 10,185 kids from 113 Nebraska schools participating in N-Lighten Kids Day. Those participating in the three-month program amassed 1,447,458 physical activity points, with one point equal to 15 minutes of physical activity.

N-Lighten Kids is conducted by the Nebraska Sports Council, which also conducts N-Lighten Nebraska and the Cornhusker State Games.
