The Great Park Pursuit

Great_Parks_Logo175.jpgThe Nebraska Recreation and Parks Association in sponsorship with Nebraska Game and Parks, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska, and Bass Pro Shops have developed The Great Park Pursuit to help foster active lifestyles while increasing awareness of the nature rich outdoor recreation opportunities throughout Nebraska. Participants have 10 specific state or city parks to visit from April 26 through Sept. 1. At each park they are prompted to find their way to a designated location in that park, where they will make a pencil tracing of a nature impression that is mounted on a post. They will mail in the impression cards, reflecting the total number of parks visited. Prizes will be awarded based on the number of tracings collected. All tracings must be mailed in by Sept. 10, 2008. Visit www.negpp.org for more information or to sign up today!

Summer Play Every Day!

SummerPlayEveryDay.jpgSummer Play Every Day is a summer activity aimed to reverse the trend of obesity and type II diabetes in Nebraska’s children.

The focus of the Summer Scorecard is to encourage and promote physical activity, proper lifestyle and nutrition habits to grade school age children (K-5). The scorecard is an incentive based program that will track the individuals monthly point totals making them eligible for prizes at the end of the summer. The scorecard is designed to be self-reporting with the consistent guidance, encouragement and reinforcement of a coordinator or team leader from an organization in your community.
